Young Leaders

Joe Fuggle

We had the opportunity to speak to former GB athlete Joe Fuggle. This audio blog delves into a number of questions. Joe gives us his perspective on what it means to be a leader, well-being, mental health, start-ups, and some useful tips for young leaders. We loved chatting to Joe!

Joe’s journey includes becoming a young elite athlete and then going on to set up his own business whilst at university. He founded the theatheleteplace.com helping parents and athletes get through the difficult times of an athlete’s journey. Joe kindly spoke about his own struggles with mental health and really inspires us to embrace change and personal well-being.

Questions we asked Joe!

  1. What motivated you to start your own business?
  2. What is your understanding of being a future leader and being conscious?
  3. How can we balance running a sustainable, financially viable business with being conscious of our communities and environment?
  4. What advice would you give to the younger generation looking to start their own business venture?
  5. Why do you think it has taken so long for corporations to take well-being seriously?
  6. How do you incorporate mindful practice into your own business and your working day?
  7. How can you draw from your own experience to inspire others to take mental health seriously?

Reena ran some lunchtime sessions during an international conference, helping delegates to unwind and find some space and calm during a busy schedule. These sessions included participants from all over the world, and were very well run and received. I have no hesitation in recommending that you work with Reena.

Reena worked in my team at Network Rail and probably has the best personal qualities of anyone I’ve met in terms of rising to challenges, getting things done and applying thought to achieve the best outcomes. I’d recommend her without question.

The small group was perfect for beginners and Reena made you feel at ease and spent time with you to explain the benefits. Reena is an extremely good teacher and combines her classes to include breathing exercises and chanting which adds to the relaxed feel.
